I am more than the sum of the words in my résumé, or the pictures in my portfolio.
As I said on the home page, I am a proud native of Colorado, and I love everything that goes along with that. I like high altitude, low humidity, mountains and sunny days. I was born into an active family; my dad moved to Colorado in his twenties with the express intention of being a ski bum. My parents actually met while working together as ski patrol. So snowsports are in my blood. I prefer cross country skiing, but also love to go down hills as well, but even then I refuse to have my heels attached to the skis. I am a telemark skier: free your heel, ski for real. My outdoor activities also include: race walking, mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, climbing, snowshoeing, backpacking, hiking, and camping.
I lived in the United Kingdom for five years studying for my degree and working freelance in the theatre. I moved back to the United States because my visa expired and there were an extremely limited number of ways I could legally remain in the UK and work. I certainly don’t miss the UK weather; I spent my last seven months there in Scotland and never put my winter clothes away, even in August. I am glad to be back in the US and closer to my family. A two-hour time difference is much easier to deal with than a seven-hour one. I do however, miss a lot of things about British culture, especially the widespread public enthusiasm for theatre. I don’t know if I will ever be able to/ have the motivation to move back, but I definitely still have many friends there and will most certainly visit.
I am a tea addict. Five years living among the British will do that to a person. An entire cupboard in my kitchen is dedicated to this art, and I have had to cut myself off from buying new teapots. I’m just a little to young yet to start collecting them in earnest. I also enjoy a bit of cake with my tea, and I love to bake it myself.
